Graduate Teacher

Point Cook College will be participating in the new Careers Start Pilot Program- Transforming the first years of your Teaching Career.  The Career Start Pilot (the Pilot) Transforming the First Years of the Teaching Career provides time release and a range of additional supports to graduates and their mentors, to accelerate graduate teaching and learning as they enter the profession.

Who is eligible:

Each graduate teacher will participate in the Pilot for two years.

Graduate teachers are eligible to participate in Year 1 of the Pilot if they are employed in a primary, specialist, P-9 or P-12 school in a Pilot area and:

• graduated with a bachelor or master qualification within the last four years
• are provisionally registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT)
• are commencing their first teaching position since gaining VIT provisional registration
• are employed at a Classroom Level 1, Range 1 classification.

Additionally, a provisionally registered teacher (PRT) who has worked as a Casual Relief Teacher (CRT) or as a tutor for the Tutor Learning Initiative in 2021 may also participate in the Pilot from 2022.

Graduate teachers are eligible to participate in Year 2 of the Pilot if they are employed in a primary, P-9 or P-12 school in a Pilot area and have participated in the Pilot in 2021.
